Roma (16-10-2009).- By letter addressed to Provincials, Provincial Delegates and members of Secular Carmel, the Superior General, Fr Saverio Cannistrà, presented the Ratio Institutiones of the Secular Order of the Discalces Carmelites which was recently approved by the Definitory General.

The Ratio, which can be downloaded from the OCDS documents section of the General Curias web page (www.dicalcedcarmelite.com), was drawn up by the General Delegation for the Secular Order during the previous sexennium. After being presented to the Fatima General Chapter and incorporating suggestions, it was presented and approved by the new General Definitory.

The document presents the fundamental principle guiding the formation process which is to be completed by the characteristic identity of each circumscription of the Order. Divided into two parts, the Ratio Institutionis gathers together, first of all, the numbers of the OCDS Constitution devoted to formation and points out basic points for discerning a vocation to the Secular Order. Secondly, the document presents a developed model of formation as a template to help draw up an individual formation program for each circumscription.
